Central government employees, gear up for some potentially great news on the horizon! The much-anticipated second Dearness Allowance (DA) hike for the year 2023 is drawing near, and the latest reports are hinting at a more substantial increase than previously anticipated.
Reliable sources suggest that the official announcement regarding the DA hike could arrive between Navratri and Diwali, offering central government employees a reason to celebrate. While initial speculations leaned toward a 3 percent increase in DA, recent calculations based on the Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers (CPI-IW) are pointing to the possibility of a more generous hike.
According to a comprehensive report from Economic Times, the formula utilized for DA calculation might yield an impressive 4 percent increase in DA for central government employees. This development is particularly heartening for employees who had been expecting a 3 percent rise, which would have taken the DA to 45 percent. However, with the potential 4 percent hike, the DA for central employees could soar to a remarkable 46 percent.
These exciting developments surpass the earlier projections made by All India Railwaymen Federation General Secretary, Shiva Gopal Mishra. Just last month, he articulated, "We are advocating for a four-percentage-point hike in dearness allowance. However, the dearness allowance hike seems to be a bit over three percentage points. The government typically does not round up the DA figure beyond the decimal point. Consequently, DA is likely to be increased by three percentage points, reaching 45 percent."
